Warnborough College Ireland hosted the third Transnational Meeting for the BuildingVids project which seeks to revolutionise architectural studies particularly for students whose first language is not English. The meeting was held from 8-10 October 2024 in Dublin.

Consortium partners came from Estonia, Germany, Hungary and Spain. Project coordinator, Gábor Palotás from EK Association in Hungary oversaw the proceedings. The project aims to revolutionise the study and use of architecture for non-native speakers of the English language. Even though English will be the lingua franca for the project, it will be the jump-off point for the students of the other 4 languages.

Benedikt Aundrup from Max-Born Berufskolleg in Germany presented a lesson methodology used in his college to gather feedback on elements which could be subsumed into the development of BuildingVids’ resources.

It wasn’t all work for the delegates, who also got the opportunity to experience some of Ireland cultural delights. These included a trip to the Guinness Storehouse for some ‘black liquid gold’ and a night out with Irish folk songs and dancing. One day was dedicated to a special trip to the Hills of Tara and the 3500-year old Newgrange burial mound. The transnational meeting concluded with a farewell dinner at a Jamie Oliver restaurant. Bring on the next TPM in Spain!
